Getting Started

Welcome to Magicdraft

Learn how to connect your WordPress site with our plugin, discover untapped content gaps, and publish deeply researched articles — all on autopilot.

Quickstart guide

Get your first article generated and published in three steps. The Magicdraft plugin handles the WordPress connection automatically — no manual credentials needed.

1
Install the Magicdraft plugin on WordPress
During the new project setup in your Magicdraft dashboard, download the plugin ZIP. In your WordPress admin, go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, select the ZIP, and activate it. The plugin automatically generates a secure Application Password behind the scenes.
2
Connect your site
Back in Magicdraft, enter your WordPress site URL and click "I've Installed It". Magicdraft contacts the plugin's REST endpoint, retrieves the credentials automatically, and verifies the connection. No copy-pasting passwords required.
3
Pull topics and generate your first article
Once connected, configure your niche and keywords, then go to Topics and click Pull Topics. Magicdraft's AI suggests high-value content ideas. Select one and click Generate Now to create your first article.
Your WordPress site must run version 5.6 or higher with the REST API enabled. Most hosts have this enabled by default. The plugin requires administrator access to install.

Connecting WordPress

Magicdraft connects to your site using the Magicdraft GSC plugin. The plugin creates a secure Application Password automatically and exposes REST endpoints that let the Magicdraft platform communicate with your WordPress installation.

How the plugin works

When activated, the plugin:

1
Generates credentials
Creates a WordPress Application Password for the first admin user and stores it in a temporary, one-time-use transient. This password is never displayed in the WordPress admin UI.
2
Exposes connection endpoints
Registers /wp-json/autopress/v1/ping and /wp-json/autopress/v1/connect. Magicdraft calls these to verify the plugin is active and retrieve credentials securely.
3
Enables publishing
Provides endpoints for article publishing, image uploading, and SEO metadata. Supports Yoast SEO, Rank Math, All in One SEO, and SEOPress for automatic meta title and description injection.
The plugin stores the Application Password in a temporary transient that expires after 7 days. If the connection window passes, re-activate the plugin or reconnect from your Magicdraft project settings to regenerate credentials.

Plugin updates

Magicdraft checks your installed plugin version against the latest release. When an update is available, a banner appears in your dashboard with a direct download link. Always keep the plugin up to date for the best compatibility.

Manual connection (alternative)

If you prefer not to use the plugin, you can generate an Application Password manually from Users → Profile → Application Passwords in WordPress, then enter the username and password in your Magicdraft project settings. This method requires the REST API to be publicly accessible.

Content gap analysis

Magicdraft uses AI to suggest content topics based on your niche, target keywords, and brand configuration. Rather than crawling competitor sites, the system analyzes your defined focus area and generates a prioritized list of topic ideas you have not published yet.

How it works

1
Configure your niche and keywords
In project Settings → Brand Voice & Content, define your niche, target keywords, and any brand preferences. This context shapes the AI's understanding of your site.
2
Pull topics
Navigate to the Topics page and click Pull Topics. You can pull up to 10 topics at a time. The AI generates unique suggestions relevant to your niche that fill gaps in your existing content.
3
Review and generate
Your topic queue holds up to 50 topics. Review the suggestions, remove any you do not want, and select topics to generate as full articles.
Each project can pull up to 50 AI-generated topic suggestions per day. Topics you delete still count toward the daily limit to prevent abuse. You can also add topics manually.

Article generation

When you select a topic and click Generate, Magicdraft creates a publication-ready article through a multi-stage pipeline. Articles typically take 2–4 minutes to generate, and you will see status updates in your dashboard.

What is included in every article

  • In-depth topic research from multiple authoritative sources
  • SEO-optimized title, meta description, and heading structure
  • AI-generated featured image tailored to the article topic
  • 2–6 internal links automatically inserted from your link pool
  • Properly formatted HTML ready for WordPress
  • Category and tag assignment based on your project configuration

Article workflow

After generation, each article follows a workflow based on your project settings:

1
Created
The article is generated and saved in Magicdraft. If no publishing mode is enabled, it stays here for manual review.
2
Review and edit
Open any article to edit its content, title, slug, meta description, tags, and scheduled publish time. You can also generate or regenerate AI images from the article detail view.
3
Publish
Push the article to WordPress as a published post or as a draft for further review on the WordPress side. Articles can also be exported as DOCX files.
The plugin handles featured image upload, inline image embedding, and SEO metadata injection (Yoast, Rank Math, AIOSEO, SEOPress) automatically during publishing.

Internal linking

Magicdraft maintains a link pool — an index of pages on your WordPress site — and automatically inserts 2–6 relevant internal links into every generated article based on semantic matching.

Building your link pool

Navigate to the Links Pool page and click Crawl Site. Magicdraft fetches all published posts and pages from your WordPress REST API and indexes their URLs and titles. You can also add links manually or import them in bulk.

Cornerstone pages

Mark your most important pages — services pages, pillar articles, or key landing pages — as cornerstone content. Magicdraft prioritizes linking to cornerstone pages from every new article to concentrate SEO authority where it matters most.

Feature Description Status
Site crawler One-click crawl of posts and pages to build your link pool Stable
Cornerstone tagging Mark high-priority pages for preferential linking Stable
Auto-insert 2–6 relevant internal links per generated article Stable
Manual management Add, edit, remove individual links or bulk import Stable

Style learning

Every brand has a voice. Style learning lets you provide up to 6 reference articles that represent your ideal writing style. Magicdraft analyzes tone, sentence structure, vocabulary, and formatting to match your voice in all future generated articles.

Setting up a style profile

1
Add reference URLs
Navigate to the Writing Style page in your project. Paste 1–6 article URLs that represent your ideal tone. These can be from your own site or any publicly accessible page.
2
Crawl and analyze
Magicdraft crawls each URL, extracts the article content, and analyzes writing patterns including sentence length, vocabulary complexity, tone, and formatting preferences.
3
Generate with your voice
All future articles generated for this project will automatically follow the learned writing style. No additional configuration needed — the AI references your style profile during every generation.
For best results, choose 3–6 articles that are consistent in tone and style. Mixing very different writing styles may produce less predictable results.

Publishing articles

Magicdraft offers two publishing modes that control how articles are pushed to your WordPress site. You can set your preferred mode in project settings.

Published mode

Articles are pushed directly to WordPress as published posts, immediately visible to your readers. Best for sites with a well-configured style profile and high confidence in generated content.

Draft mode

Articles are pushed to WordPress as drafts, giving you the opportunity to review and edit them in the WordPress editor before making them public. Ideal for teams that prefer an editorial review step.

Manual publishing

If both modes are turned off, articles stay in Magicdraft's internal queue with a "create" status. You can review them in the Articles tab and manually push each article as either a published post or a draft using the article detail view.

You can also export articles as DOCX files for offline editing or use in other platforms.

Autopilot & scheduling

The scheduler automates the entire content pipeline: pulling topics, generating articles, and publishing them to WordPress on a cadence you define.

Configuring autopilot

1
Enable autopilot
In the Scheduler page, toggle autopilot on. This allows the system to automatically generate and publish articles on your behalf.
2
Set frequency
Choose how many articles per day the scheduler should produce. Your plan's monthly article limit is enforced — the scheduler will pause automatically when the quota is reached.
3
Configure publish times (optional)
Set specific times of day for articles to go live. The scheduler generates articles roughly one hour before the target time and queues them for publishing at the exact slot. Without publish times, articles are pushed immediately after generation.
4
Choose active days
Select which days of the week the scheduler should run. For example, publish only on weekdays or spread content evenly across the full week.

Schedule window

Optionally set a start and end date for the scheduler to run within. This is useful for campaign-based publishing or seasonal content pushes.

Email notifications

Enable notifications in your project settings to receive an email each time the scheduler publishes or drafts an article on your behalf.

The scheduler requires WordPress to be connected and at least one publishing mode (published or draft) to be enabled. It also requires topics in your queue — the scheduler will not run if the topic list is empty.

Plans & limits

Magicdraft offers multiple subscription plans. All plans include a 7-day free trial with full access to every feature. Plans differ by the number of connected sites and the monthly article generation limit.
